Research-Intensive Diseases Initiative

A children’s cancer organization confronted by sudden staff turnover and major special event commitments was helped to outsource its gift accounting, develop powerful on-line event registration and donor retention tools, and free headquarters staff to spend more time with major gift donors.

A mental health provider with no prior capital campaign experience but rapidly growing program needs was assisted with an assessment of its Staff, Board and Case for Support. This led to a feasibility study for their first capital campaign, and the identification of probable lead donors accounting for well over half of the campaign goal.

An HIV-AIDS research organization arranged for its governing board to dedicate time to consideration of its role in major gift philanthropy, which led to a REAP™ (Resource Evaluation to Achieve Potential) study highlighting areas of highest potential going forward, and to planning for its first nationwide capital campaign.

A patient education group that had been entirely reliant on direct mail and special event support was able to develop methods for identifying donors and participants with higher giving potential, and to institute communications channels resulting in a precipitous increase in gifts of $10,000 or more.

A research funding alliance that had hired its first development staff was aided in setting performance goals, and engaging its governing board members more effectively in making important potential donor introductions through special events and scientific conferences.
