What sets him apart is his understanding of the subtle nuances that are present within each campaign and that each is somewhat unique.
Edward J. Kraus is a Consultant for Jerold Panas, Linzy & Partners – a major force in the field of Financial Resource Development. The firm has served over 4,000 client institutions since its founding 40 years ago.
Ed brings to the firm over two decades of experience in organizational management, fundraising and philanthropic services. He has worked with a wide range of nonprofit institutions.
After many years on the client side as Director of Development for a national organization, he joined the consultant ranks. In this role, he has directed Feasibility Studies, and Program Development for capital campaigns and enhanced annual appeal support. He has been particularly successful in securing federal and state funding through grants and congressional designation – from both sides of the aisle!
He is a native of Pittsburgh and fifth among eight children of a steel mill family. Ed graduated from Eastern University with a degree in Organizational Management and subsequently from The Harvard Graduate School of Business, OPM Executive Education Program.
There is a long history of service to others. It traces its origin to and is supported by his religious beliefs as a Roman Catholic and as a former member of the Religious Order of St. John Baptist De La Salle. This is known today as The Christian Brothers.
After three years of leading a monastic life and prior to taking Final Vows, Ed felt that God was calling him to return and serve Him as a member of the laity. He returned to the lay life, and several years later met and married his wife. This year they celebrate their thirty-fifth anniversary.
As a layman, Ed continues to have a strong religious calling to service. He is an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He serves as Special Minister of the Eucharist at Sunday Mass and also visits and takes Communion to the sick, elderly, and homebound. Ed serves and advises the Most Reverend Kevin Rhoades, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and is a member of his Diocesan Board of Advisors.
His persistence and enthusiasm are infectious, greatly benefiting the campaigns he has championed. A tireless volunteer, he knows the meaning of board service. He was elected Chairman of the Board of the United Way of Northwestern Pennsylvania and has served on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
Ed’s expertise includes: Feasibility Studies, Campaign Design and Strategy, Capital Campaign Counsel, Major Gift Officer, Annual Fund Development, and the training of board members and volunteers. He understands fully both the art and science of donor identification, cultivation, and gift solicitation.
What sets him apart is his understanding of the subtle nuances that are present within each campaign and that each is somewhat unique. His interpersonal skills and sensitivity to these matters combined with his problem solving abilities has turned potential roadblocks into campaign success stories.
This year, he was appointed Board Chair of the Development Committee for Central Pennsylvania College. This Committee oversees all development activities of the College.
Ed Kraus brings much to his campaign programs. Volunteer recruitment and training for donor solicitation is a particular strength. Clients tell us he is particularly a problem solver in pressurized campaign settings. He relies on strong insight to donor expectations to achieve important outcomes.
