You’ve heard me before on the subject. Your mission isn’t important. It’s everything.
I very much like what I see at more and more Board meetings. (May I take a slight bow! I’ve been preaching this for years.)
The organization has a tent card they use for Trustee seating at the Board meeting. The piece facing out has the name of the Trustee so other directors can make a quick identification.
The piece facing the Trustee has the name of the Director (in small print) so she can find her chair. The mission of the organization is facing the Director. That means that every decision that is made, every discussion, everything that takes place— is focused on the mission.
This is what is facing the Trustee.
If you use tent cards at board meetings, try doing this. Your mission is omnibus supereminet— above all else.
